Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Chandigarh

The travel will begin in Chandigarh, and you would need to reach the city from your hometown before you start your journey to Spiti. Here, you can meet up with the travel representatives and also the rest of the tourists traveling with you. You will be transferred to your hotel room, where you can have dinner and rest through the night.

Day 2: From Chandigarh to Sarahan

Early the next morning, you will start your journey to Sarahan from Chandigarh, after which you will reach Narkanda. The journey is about 8 hours to cover a distance of 274 km, so we start early in the morning to be able to reach Narkanda by late afternoon. You will then be transferred to your hotel room for a leisurely overnight stay.

Day 3: From Sarahan to Sangla

On the next day, you will be taken through some of the most beautiful valleys of Spiti towards Sangla. This is a beautiful town located in the Baspa valley, which gets its name from the river Baspa. The journey is for about 2 hours, and once you enter the borders of Kinnaur, you can witness some of the most beautifully and skilfully engineered roads in the valley. You will pass by some beautiful villages in the Kinnaur district, after which you will stay at a hotel overnight.

Day 4: Journey to Kalpa

On the morning of the 4th day, you will head out on another road trip post breakfast. The journey of 110 km will be covered in about 3 hours on a drive to Kalpa, which is the district headquarters of Kinnaur. This was once a favorite getaway of Lord Dalhousie. Next to Kalpa is a large rock formation that resembles a Shivalinga that changes color through the day. You can rest for a bit once you check into the hotel, and then later in the evening, you will be taken to visit the Buddhist Gompa, Hu Bu Lan Kar. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5: Exploring Kaza

After breakfast, you will head out on another excursion to Kaza. From Kaza, you will head towards Langza and Komik, which are small villages located in the heart of the Spiti Valley. These villages are known for their vast reserves of marine fossils that date back to millions of years ago when the valley was submerged under the Tethys sea. Komik is a village located at the highest point in Asia, and its major highlight is its monastery. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 6: Exploring Kaza further

On this day, you will head out on a shorter half-day excursion to the small village of Hikkim. You can visit the famous post office here and also take the opportunity to send some postcards to your family and friends, talking about your adventurous trip in Spiti. Once you’re done with lunch, you’ll pay a visit to the Ki Monastery, which is the biggest learning center for Buddhism in Spiti. You will also visit Kibber, which is known to be the highest village in the world. Then return to the hotel for the night’s rest.

Day 7: Back to Sarahan

On the 7th day, you will make your way back to Sarahan, which is an 8-hour drive by road, covering a distance of about 271 km. Once you reach the hotel, you will be left free in the evening to explore the town on your own. The Chinese Buddhist influence on its architecture makes this town a lovely place to spend the night. You can visit the Bhimakali temple and also take a look around the town to find what interests you. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 8: Back to Chandigarh

On the last day of your trip, you will head back to Chandigarh, starting early in the morning. Once you reach Chandigarh, your trip would come to an end, and you can spend the rest of your time here at your own leisure. You can either continue exploring other places or head back to your hometown.
